Universal structure of the human mental model

By Carlos Alberto Rossi, Ph.D., Guayaquil, Ecuador

The basis for reaching total happiness

This model explains how the human thought process is structured to bring forth the  understanding of reality (both in the family, and work sense) of the human being, which allows us to detect the areas where improvements are needed, in order to have a harmonious relationship in both areas, and acquiring a sense of accomplishment or total happiness.

Fifteen (15) years of work experience within organizations, and being a coach with a neuroscientific base, have given me a more in depth understanding of the human emotional, and productivity models.

Let’s look at the functionality of the model on a daily practice.

Functionality of the Mental Human Model

The functionality is simple to comprehend. The baseline is the person’s birth.

When human beings are born, the capacity for their development has a genetic component (G), and a social or environmental stimulation component (A).

The genetic component influences the development of motor and cognitive skills, as well as, indicating the possibility of developing antisocial values, in some cases.

On the other hand, the social or environmental component, refers to the family environment, and context where the person has developed. The standard behavior patterns the person has acquired, the emotional context where they were immersed, etc. play a pivotal role during the first years of life. This allows an emotional baseline to develop.

Fundamentally, this all leads to the person; through the formation of his/her personality, learning to cope with things according to their temperament, and on an emotional level. The person also learns to adjust their cognitive system to understand what they live through on a daily basis. All of this knowledge will form a lens through which, the human being will be able to perceive, and interpret; both the family, and work related reality.

According to the stimulation in a context; human beings can develop certain fears, which could lead to an instability of personal values, with serious consequences on family and work relationships; which can alter on a greater or lesser extent, the quest for harmony, equilibrium or balance in the home, and on the job; which allows the person to be successfully productive, and a leader in the family.

Human beings’ different social styles are based on the mental model, therefore, it will also define a particular way of managing, negotiating, and deciding. In addition, it will also define the values and anti-values that could have developed in the model. In other words, the mental model structures the thought process, and this is what decides how, where, and when to apply the abilities. Depending on the efficiency of what it does, it will have either a better or worse performance at work or family, thus regulating the time it can take to reach Total Happiness.

The model proposes a debate:

How should we asses Human Talent: based on abilities or on the mental model, which is the essence of, and controls abilities?
